Danielle began her career as a registered nurse in paediatrics at The Children’s Hospital Westmead, caring for children with complex medical and developmental problems. Danielle later became a registered midwife and worked in many different locations throughout Australia including remote area nursing and midwifery in Central Australia. After satisfying the travel bug with extensive travel overseas and around Australia, Danielle and her family settled in the northern rivers area with a renewed appreciation for this beautiful part of the world.
Danielle continued further studies in Public Health and Tropical medicine in Far North Queensland specialising in Aboriginal health and One Health. The One Health approach aims to sustainably balance and optimise the health of people, animals and ecosystems.
For the past decade Danielle has had the privilege of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families on Bundjalung country, creating connections and special bonds with families as they welcome their babies into the community. It is through this work that the importance of connection and the value of relationships, deep listening and consistently holding space became the most obvious and important way to be in any community.
