FAQ

How do I book a session?

Please call Danielle on 0412 930 703 or send an email to arrange a session. No referral is needed.

How much does a session cost?

  • 30 minute session for children 4-6 years of age $70
  • All learning sessions with Danielle $150 per 50 minute session
  • All therapy sessions with Steph $170 per 50 minute session

Session costs can be covered by the NDIS for NDIS participants.

Partner up sessions and team building sessions​ – please contact Danielle to discuss.

Is Eltham Valley Equine a registered NDIS provider?

Eltham Valley Equine is not a registered provider but can still offer sessions to NDIS self managed and plan managed participants. Progress reports and communication with other providers can also be provided.

Do I need to have experience with horses?

No! These sessions can benefit anyone and no experience with horses is necessary.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a hat, boots or sturdy shoes and a drink bottle. Sunscreen, helmets and boots can be provided if required.

Please note Eltham Valley Equine does not offer horseriding lessons. Sessions are based on developing social and emotional skills and wellbeing. Considerate horsepersonship and respect for horses is modelled and demonstrated by practitioners at all times.

General Information

Our horses

Calm and healthy horses can provide an emotional and sensory environment of calmness and trust. Horses who are healthy seek closeness with people and offer connection and modelling behaviour in a safe environment.

At Eltham Valley Equine our horses are healthy and well cared for. They receive regular dental and hoof care, vaccinations and vet checks as required.

Safety

The emotional and physical safety of participants and our horses is our priority.

All equipment is checked regularly for wear and tear. Helmets provided for mounted sessions meet Australian standards.

Sessions can be conducted in most weather conditions with shelter provided however safety will be prioritised and a session may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions.

Practitioners are certified with the Equine Psychotherapy Institute and Equine Assisted Therapy Australia with extensive knowledge and experience in mental health. Practitioners have extensive experience with horses and know each herd member well. Practitioners hold current First Aid certificates.
